Service Design

Service design covers the design of systems and processes that aim at delivering a service to a user. Service design is a combination of already well-known design disciplines such as communication design, interaction design and digital design combined with ethnological methods, where it is fundamentally about the involvement of the user’s behaviour and needs.

In a service design process workflows and processes are analyzed, after which specific products and solutions that can support or change the observed workflows and processes are developed. The core of service design is the user experience, where the everyday of the user is identified through observations and interviews and on that basis solutions are developed that improve one or more services.
