Simrad develops and manufactures high-end marine electronics for yachts worldwide. Holscher Design has created a chartplotter for Simrad. The chartplotter is a navigational maritime instrument that employs electronic sea charts and GPS technology.
Recognizing the need to renew this product, Simrad specified their requirements, while clearly stating the importance of preserving product identity with other Simrad product lines and the need for a new user interface.
After analysing user behaviour at sea and collaborating closely with Simrad engineers, a new range of chartplotters with a redesigned user interface and intuitive commands, were designed by Holscher Design and launched.
Based in Norway and a part of Kongsberg Maritime AS, Simrad manufactures advanced sonars, echo sounders and catch monitor instrumentation for the world’s fishing fleet.
Since the company was started more than 60 years ago, Simrad has grown to be the world’s most recognized brand in professional fish finding equipment.
Simrad is also a world leader in equipment for fishery research equipment. Single and multibeam echo sounders and sonars are used on research vessels all around the world. Scientists rely on Simrad’s technology and accurate readings.
Holscher Design has designed a chartplotter containing three instruments in one: a Chartplotter, an echo sounder and a radar, are all integrated in a single unit.
